This ring was made with customer-provided materials.
These are difficult projects. Typically the material used in this kind of custom ring is provided by the customer, and typically I have to see the piece and determine if it will work. Mechanical parts like large bearings (typically steel) are best, because they are solid metal and present the fewest limitations in machining. Thin, fuselage pieces (aluminum or titanium) are very very limiting. These are the types that are inlaid into a separate ring of titanium, cobalt, or precious metals.
