Japanese Sugi and Titanium Wooden Ring / by Steven Wyatt

This titanium wooden ring is SOLD

Sugi, also known as Japanese Cedar (despite the fact it is not a true cedar) is a wood that has been cultivated for thousands of years for both its ornamental properties as well its fragrant, weather and insect resistant qualities.  It is the national tree of Japan; centuries old examples can be found planted near temples and shrines.
This ring is flanked by 6al-4v grade 5 titanium, preferred among jewelers.
Why is this ring not in regular production?  First, cedar is fairly soft stuff and I prefer to work with hardwoods for convenience.  Second, isolating a nice piece with burl figure and curl as in this ring is time consuming.
